A. MWR Awards Standard Operating Procedures Guide

1. This ALCGPSC solicits nominations for the 2024 MWR Awards Program. Reference A can be found at https://www.coastguardmwr.org/mwr-awards. These awards are presented annually and are designed to recognize those units and Professionals who consistently epitomize the best in MWR/Morale programs. The MWR awards program honors three categories; MWR Program of the Year, Morale Program of the Year, and MWR Professional of the Year. The three categories are defined below:

a. The MWR Program of the Year category is designed for units with MWR CAT B and C Business Activities.

b. The Morale Program of the Year award category is designed for with no CAT B or C activities. These programs are run by morale officers at operational and shore-based units.

c. The MWR Professional of the Year (MWRPOTY) will be awarded in two categories. Senior MWR Professional of the Year and Junior MWR Professional of the Year.

2. The eligibility requirements for award submissions can be found in reference A.

a. For the MWR and Morale Program of the Year submissions, commands are required to send a 1-page command endorsement via memorandum and a completed MWR/Morale program of the year slide deck.

b. For the MWRPOTY award, the nomination package will specifically address and provide examples of how the nominee has demonstrated the evaluation criteria outlined in reference A. The nomination package must include a command endorsement, not to exceed two pages in Coast Guard memorandum format.

3. The nomination packages should be sent to CSC from the unit commanding officer or officer-in-charge. Nominations are for accomplishments of the previous nonappropriated fund (NAF) year, 1 Feb 2023 through 31 Jan 2024. Award winners and runner ups will receive a certificate of recognition and a NAF cash award to support their morale program.

4. Nominations must arrive at the CSC by 6 Sep 2024. A panel will be convened to review and select a first-place winner and runner up in each category. Notification of the results will be made via ALCGPSC. Awards should be submitted electronically to Stephen.j.bishop2@uscg.mil.
